The University of Baghdad, in the hall of the Higher Institute for Financial and Accounting Studies in Al-Jadriya, and the symposium was held under the title (The Role of Scientific Research Centers in Supporting Sustainable Development in Iraq)
On Wednesday, November 13, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant to the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, the Director and Heads of Departments of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and a large number of researchers from different universities, in addition to the presence of members of the Scientific and Preparatory Committee from the affiliates of Al-Mansour University College.
At the beginning of the symposium, Professor Dr. Ahmed Omar Ahmed, Director of the Al-Mansour Center for Studies and Research, gave a short speech in which he expressed the thanks and appreciation of Al-Mansour University College to the University of Baghdad and the Center for Strategic and International Studies for their cooperation with the Al-Mansour Center in organizing the symposium. He also thanked the Scientific Assistant to the President of the University of Baghdad for attending the seminar and the colleagues and members of the Scientific and Preparatory Committee for their efforts in organizing the workshop, calling for more joint scientific cooperation to enhance the scientific process in our beloved country.
After that, the Scientific Assistant to the President of the University of Baghdad praised the scientific efforts made in the symposium in his speech and stressed the importance of research centers in supporting development decision-making and the cooperation between the Mansour Center and the Center for Strategic Studies. He pointed out that the University of Baghdad is keen to support research centers in serving the development process in Iraq.
17 research papers from the universities of (Baghdad, Nahrain, Mustansiriya, Karbala, and the University of Iraq) participated in the symposium, in addition to the participation of Mansour College and the Ministry of Education. Four research papers were selected to be presented at the seminar.
The first research presented at the symposium was the research of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Omar Ahmed - Director of the Mansour Center, entitled (The Role of Scientific Research Centers in Enhancing the Development Process in Iraq), in which he reviewed the history of research institutions in Iraqi universities and the obstacles they faced in supporting decision-makers. In his lecture, he touched on the development reality in Iraq and the urgent need for development plans and programs to the products of scientific research centers from studies and research in enhancing the success of sustainable development goals. Three lecturers from the Digital Media Department at Al-Mansour University College participated in the symposium through the scientific and preparatory committees and presented a research paper. After discussions and dialogues with the attendees, the seminar concluded with a set of recommendations calling for benefiting from research centers in drawing up development programs and using the scientific expertise of those centers’ members in making development decisions.
