Al-Mansour Co-Organizes 1st Scientific Conference on Combating Extremism & Promoting Peaceful Coexistence, Sponsored by Ministry of Higher Education

In implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to consolidate the concepts of peaceful coexistence and reduce the manifestations of extremism in society, the universities and colleges of Baghdad, Al-Turath, Al-Mamoun, Al-Mansour, and Al-Rafidain organized the first scientific conference on combating extremism and promoting peaceful coexistence, under the slogan "Towards a Society Free of Extremism and Living in Peace."

Al-Mansour University College reviewed that the conference, in which held at Al-Turath University, addressed a number of vital topics related to combating extremist ideology and promoting the values of pluralism and mutual respect, as well as reviewing the role of official and unofficial institutions, including educational, religious and cultural institutions, in protecting society from destructive ideas that target its cohesive fabric, especially after Iraq overcame a difficult period under the control of extremist groups that sought to sow division and societal disintegration.

Al-Mansour highlighted that the conference aims at proving several recommendations and proposals, supporting national efforts to combat extremism and promote a culture of coexistence among the various components of the Iraqi people. During the closing ceremony, several participating faculty members, security and religious figures, as well as heads of organizations and researchers, were honored with conference shields and certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contributions to the success of this important national scientific event.

It is worth to be mentioned that the conference was attended by Representative of the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Kamil Al-Dulaimi, several faculty members, security figures, religious figures, representatives of the Public Mobilization, representatives of civil society institutions and organizations and a group of students.
