Al-Mansour University College Organizes a Comprehensive Awareness Seminar on the Dangers of Drugs and Associated Psychological, Social, and Legal Aspects

As part of the"Combatting Drugs and Limiting their Spread Week" activities, and within the framework of the Al-Mansour University College Deanship's commitment to fulfilling its educational and societal role in spreading awareness among university youth and promoting a culture of prevention, the English Language Department, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, held a comprehensive awareness seminar titled: "Drugs: Types, Trade, and Abuse – Psychological, Social, and Legal Aspects."

The seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Abdul Jabbar, who presented a comprehensive scientific analysis of the nature of drug dangers and their far-reaching effects on both the individual and society. He reviewed the indicators of drug prevalence and the primary behaviors targeting the youth demographic, while also warning against the psychological pathways that lead to substance abuse.

The event was attended by the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Shaker, who commended the significance of the topic and the Department’s role in organizing awareness events that contribute to protecting students and enhancing their understanding. He reaffirmed the Deanship’s support for such humanitarian and educational activities. Additionally, the Head of the English Language Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rafid Abdul Amir, participated in enriching the discussion, offering insights into the social and academic impacts of drug proliferation among young people.

The seminar witnessed active participation from the department’s students, featuring discussions and questions that reflected a growing awareness of the importance of prevention and the university student's role in curbing this phenomenon. This event is part of a series of activities organized by Al-Mansour University College as part of its ethical and societal responsibility toward its students and the community.
