The Digital Media Department at Al-Mansour University College (MUC) organized a distinctive seminar titled "Media Discourse and Societal Issues." This qualitative event combined academic expertise with artistic vision and was held in the presence of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Sabah Mohammed Kallow, and the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Shaker Salman, along with a select group of faculty members and students.
In the context of this seminar, the College hosted the artist Mohammed Tuhma Al-Tamimi, a well-known Iraqi artistic figure. He presented a rich discussion on the role of media discourse in interpreting reality and crafting influential messages. He explained how media intersects with the details of daily life and how societal consciousness is formed through what is produced and presented on media platforms.
In his lecture, Al-Tamimi addressed the nature of contemporary media discourse, methods of influence, and the relationship between art and media. He emphasized that any successful discourse must be responsible, conscious, and deeply connected to people's issues and concerns. The seminar also witnessed interactive interventions from students, who discussed various perspectives on digital media and its role in enhancing societal awareness.
This event aligns with the Digital Media Department's vision of integrating artistic experience with academic knowledge. It aims to provide renewed educational content that helps students understand the nature of the media message in an era of rapid digital and cultural transformations.
It is worth noting that artist Mohammed Tuhma Al-Tamimi is the son of the late legendary Iraqi artist Tuhma Al-Tamimi, who left behind an artistic legacy that resonates both in Iraq and the Arab world, with works that remain prominent and influential to this day.
