Within the framework of academic cooperation and exchange of scientific expertise between Iraqi universities, the faculty member of Al-Mansour University College, Mr. Muhannad Imad Majeed participated in a training course organized by the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women at the University of Baghdad entitled "Using Modern Photo Finish Technology to Record Championship Results in Athletics." The course was delivered by a specialist in the individual sports department, Ass. Prof. Hind Salem Tayeh.
Al-Mansour University College reviewed that the course highlights Photo Finish technology as one of the most important tools in athletics, given its crucial role in accurately determining the winner in races whose results are close to fractions of a second, this technology relies on high-speed cameras that capture the moment runners cross the finish line with extreme precision, helping to reduce human error and achieve fair and reliable results.
The College demonstrated that the course addresses the technical aspects of operating the devices associated with this technology, including the player data recording system (Pad Lynx), finish line monitoring cameras, false start detection devices, laser measuring devices and systems for extracting, printing and displaying results on screens.
For their part, the two faculty members emphasized the importance of this technology in achieving sports justice and enhancing trust among participants, organizers, and the public, as well as its role in keeping pace with global developments in the management of sports tournaments.
It is worth to be mentioned that the course is part of efforts to enhance the quality of education and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on quality education and Goal 17 on strengthening effective partnerships between educational institutions to achieve comprehensive community and sports development.
