The English Language Department Discusses the Importance of Translation as a Bridge for Cultural Communication

The English Language Department at Al-Mansour University College (MUC) organized a specialized scientific seminar titled "The Importance of Translation and Its Role in Communication Between Peoples." This event is part of the Department's scientific activities aimed at enhancing academic awareness of the vital role translation plays in transferring knowledge and building bridges of understanding between different cultures.
The seminar was moderated by the Head of the English Language Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Rafid Abdul Amir Ghaib, who outlined the scientific framework of the seminar's themes. He emphasized the importance of integrating translation into modern academic and humanitarian pathways.
The lecture was delivered by Ms. Ghusoon Sadiq Mahdi, who addressed the pivotal role of translation in bringing nations together. She highlighted its contribution to supporting cultural dialogue and transferring intellectual and scientific output across languages. Furthermore, she shed light on the modern challenges facing translators in light of rapid technological advancements.
The seminar was attended by the Dean of Al-Mansour University College, Prof. Dr. Sabah Mohammed Kallow, who affirmed the importance of translation as a fundamental pillar of scientific and cultural exchange. He noted its role in enhancing academic openness and keeping pace with global developments.
Also in attendance was the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Shaker Salman, who praised the scientific level of the seminar and its topics. He reiterated the Deanship’s commitment to supporting scientific activities that contribute to developing students' capabilities and enhancing their competencies in the fields of language and translation.
